Meta Fined $414M for EU Personal Privacy Law Violations

According to the DPC, Meta unlawfully required users to grant personalized and targeted ads.

It would be highly uncommon for a social networks service not to be tailored to the individual user.”

Despite the decision, Meta says marketers can continue to use tailored advertising campaigns on Buy Instagram Verification and Buy Facebook Verification.

“It’s important to note that these choices do not avoid personalised marketing on our platform.”

What Happens Now?

Meta has the legal right to appeal the DPC’s judgment and will not be required to make modifications up until a decision is reached in court.

To that end, the DPC didn’t provide specific information about changes Meta has to make to adhere to GDPR.
